A major milestone for our community!
It is with immense pride and overflowing enthusiasm that we announce today a great piece of news for Linux Meetup in Quebec: our organization is now officially recognized as the very first francophone chapter of the Linux Association of Canada (or LAC / Linux Association of Canada)!

An association based on respect and autonomy
Joining the national network of the Linux Association of Canada marks a natural and exciting step in our journey. We want to reassure all our members and participants: Linux Meetup in Quebec maintains its full independence, identity, and local mission.
This recognition is not intended to change our operations, but rather to multiply opportunities, enhance our visibility, and build strong bridges between enthusiasts, developers, students, and professionals of Linux and free software across the country.
As the team from the Linux Association of Canada pointed out so well on their blog:
By bringing together Linux communities from across the country, we are building a stronger, more collaborative, and more inclusive national network, capable of supporting the growth of Linux and open-source software throughout Canada.
What this collaboration brings to our ecosystem
By teaming up with theLinux Association of Canadawe are joining forces with a pan-Canadian network committed to promoting the adoption of Linux and digital sovereignty. Specifically, this synergy will allow us to:
- Promote our provincial events and showcase Quebec initiatives on a national scale.
- Co-organize enriching workshops, webinars, and community activities.
- Share educational resources and create new learning opportunities.
- Facilitate networking and exchanges between Linux user groups from all provinces.
- Offering new engagement spaces for our volunteers, our partners, and all free software enthusiasts.
A big thank you to the whole community!
This recognition is primarily yours. It is thanks to your faithful presence at our meetings, the commitment of our volunteers, the speakers, and the vitality of our community that this beautiful adventure is possible.
We would also like to warmly thank the entire team of theLinux Association of Canada for their enthusiastic welcome, their trust, and their inclusive vision of the Canadian open source ecosystem.
And now?
Stay tuned! Exciting joint projects, collaborative workshops, and initiatives to promote the culture of free software are already in the works.
Feel free to share the news with those around you and to proudly join us in inaugurating the Francophone chapter of the Linux Association of Canada!
